COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT METHODS USED BY ACADEMICIANS AGAINST OF WOMEN'S HEALTH PROBLEMS

Abstract
Aim: Women have various gynecological problems during their life and apply various complementary and alternative therapies for these problems. This study was carried out in order to determine to women's health problems and complementary and alternative therapies which they use to deal with these problems. Methods: The study was completed by 103 women working as an academician. Results: It was found out that mean age of the women was 32.4 and 44.7% of the women was research assistants. 57.3% of the women had premenstrual syndrome, 49.5% of the women had dysmenorrhea, 16.5% of the women had polycystic over syndrome, 10.7% of the women had myoma. It was determined that 70% of women used at least one complementary and alternative treatment methods and the women applied shower, warm compress, sleeping, massage, herbal therapy, vitamin-mineral support and music respectively. Characteristics of women such as age, marital status and economic status didn't affect using the complementary and alternative treatment therapies. Conclusion: It was determined that complementary and alternative therapies are widely used in academics.

SIK GÖRÜLEN KADIN SAĞLIĞI SORUNLARINA KARŞI AKADEMİSYENLERİN KULLANDIĞI TAMAMLAYICI VE ALTERNATİF TEDAVİ YÖNTEMLERİ

Özet
Giriş ve Amaç: Kadınlar yaşam dönemleri boyunca çeşitli jinekolojik sorunlar yaşamaktadırlar. Bu sorunlara yönelik olarak çeşitli tamamlayıcı ve alternatif tedavi yöntemlerine başvurmaktadırlar. Bu çalışma sık görülen kadın sağlığı sorunlarını ve bu sorunlarla baş etmek için kullanılan tamamlayıcı ve alternatif tedavi yöntemlerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç- Yöntem: Veriler akademisyen olarak çalışan kadınlardan toplanmıştır ve 103 kişiye ulaşılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan kadınların yaş ortalaması 32.4 olup, % 44.7’si araştırma görevlisi olarak çalışmaktadır. Kadınların %57.3’ü premenstrüel sendrom, %49.5’i dismenore ve %16.5’i polikistik over sendromu, %10.7’si myom sorunu yaşamaktadır. Kadınların %70‘inin tamamlayıcı ve alternatif tedavi yöntemlerinden en az birini kullandıkları ve sırasıyla en çok duş alma, sıcak kompres uygulama, uyuma, masaj, bitkisel terapi, vitamin-mineral desteği ve müzik dinleme yöntemlerini uyguladıkları belirlenmiştir. Kadınların yaş, medeni durum, ve ekonomik durumu tamamlayıcı ve alternatif tedavi yöntemleri kullanma durumunu etkilememektedir. Sonuç: Alternatif tedavi yöntemlerinin kullanımının akademisyenlerde oldukça yaygın olduğu belirlenmiştir.
